中华文物在美国各地艺术博物馆中具有崇高的地位。大型博物馆诸如纽约大都会艺术博物馆、波士顿艺术博物馆、费城艺术博物馆、华盛顿佛利尔(Freer) ——赛格勒(Sackler)美术馆、芝加哥艺术博物馆、克利夫兰(Cleveland)艺术博物馆、堪萨斯城纳尔逊艺术博物馆(The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art – Kansas City)和旧金山亚洲艺术博物馆等皆藏有各类富有历史、艺术价值的中华文物珍品，如古代青铜器、玉器、雕塑、陶瓷和历代至近现代书画等。这些重要的收藏有益地促进了美国民众对中华文化、艺术的了解和欣赏。
谈到亚洲文化艺术对华二代身份认同上的意义，德州大学大河谷分校心理学系曾晴讲师指出：“美国的历史只有几百年。中国的历史是几千年。从历史来看华裔青少年应该自豪感。但因为华人文化的低能见度、华人历史在教科书里的缺失，华裔青少年的自豪感难以产生。这是一个应该改变的现象。当然美国宪法已经提到人人平等（与有无悠久历史无关），无论这些人的文化历史是长是短。但不管怎样，华裔青少年绝对有理由为自己的heritage 感到骄傲自豪。“

Chinese art occupies a proud place in major art museums across the United States, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Freer-Sackler Galleries, Washington DC, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansan City, and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Treasures of all media of Chinese art, including ancient bronzes, jades, sculptures, ceramics, and painting of both traditional eras and modern times, are represented in those museums, helping promote understanding and appreciation of Chinese art and culture among the American people. The present lecture will introduce the history of the Chinese art collections in America and some of the most remarkable works of art.
